MDSI Volunteer Harold Burton recognised by BP
MDSI volunteer Harold Burton was among the many Australians to be recognised for their hard work and
dedication as volunteers. The Vouchers for Volunteers programme was introduced by BP in response to the
current economic environment and also as a way of saying thank you to selfless Australian volunteers.
BP's aim was to spread the benefits of the programme to
as many volunteers as possible providing $250,000 worth
of free fuel to volunteers throughout many regions of
Australia.
Harold, better known as Sonny among the MDSI aged care
clients, provides social support and home visiting to
elderly Culturally and Linguistically (CALD) diverse
clients who live in rural areas of Wollondilly. He
provides help with transport to get to doctors
appointments, shopping and community events in
Wollondilly and Campbelltown.
Sonny
resides in Bargo and the clients he visits live in the
Tahmoor area on farms he often volunteers twice or three
times a week something he has been doing for nearly 15
years.
MDSI is proud to have dedicated people
like Sonny helping our clients. Its thanks to volunteers
like Sonny that clients are able feel connected to their
local community. |
