MDSI can help disadvantaged and marginalised youth in the Macarthur area with services in different languages.
Links to Learning Program
The Links to Learning program targets Years 9 & 10 students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds who are at risk of leaving school. Participants are provided with opportunities and pathways into education and training.
The program focuses on delivering group/tutorial sessions, organisation of guest speakers from various government and non-government agencies, developing a pathway plan as well as a next step plan focusing on students’ continuation of education and training pathways. Also included are career seminars, industry visits, computer, multimedia and video workshops. Each program activity is specially tailored to meet the students’ needs and interests and gives a high level of individual support in an informal environment.
MDSI Links to Learning program operates at James Meehan, Lurnea and Airds High Schools.

Youth Settlement Worker
Our Youth Settlement Worker provides support to young people between the ages of 12 - 24 from a migrant, refugee or humanitarian background that have been in Australia for less than 5 years. This position aims to effectively engage with a range of young people from CALD backgrounds who may be at risk of disconnecting from their family, community and vocational activity through the provision of programs and activities which will promote self esteem and skill development to stabilise their housing, rebuild family relationships and achieve their goals.

CALD Youth Worker
MDSI’s CALD Youth Program is for young people 12 - 17 years old, and their families.
CALD refers to people who are "Culturally and Linguistically Diverse" or more simply, people who are born overseas, or who have a parent born overseas, and/or if a language other than English is spoken at home.
The CALD Youth Program provides services, information and advice to young people and their families. This includes life skills workshops and resilience training, education support, guidance or assistance with problems at home, in school and out of school activities and much more.
