FAMILIES IN CULTURAL TRANSITION PROGRAM

For newly arrived woman

The Family In Cultural Transition (FICT) program is designed to help newly arrived women learn about Australia and settle successfully in their new country.

Topics include:

  • Strengthening family and community relationships
  • Improving your relationship with your children and teenagers
  • Understanding Australian systems and way of life
  • Becoming self reliant
  • Facing challenges
  • Dealing with practical issues such as budgeting, using interpreters, how to communicate effectively with family and community members

MORNING TEA, LUNCH AND CHILDCARE WILL BE PROVIDED

** Program runs for 9 weeks **

The FICT program is funded by STARTTS (Service for the Treatment & Rehabilitation of Torture and Trauma Survivors)

WOMEN IN SMALL BUSINESS

The Women in Small Business program is designed to provide business skills training and mentoring for culturally and linguistically Diverse (CALD) women to establish their own small business. The program aims to build on their skills, interest and encourage leadership in order to assist women to improve their financial security and independence through small businesses.

We are looking for multicultural women in Campbelltown who may be interested in the project and have a product or idea they would like to sell.

SENIORS FESTIVAL EVENT

The Great Age Debate

Campbelltown Council in partnership with Macarthur Diversity Services Initiative, invites you to attend an intergenerational event debating with light hearted banter, whilst also covering serious issues relating to older people.

Interactive mini activities will complement debating topics and provide valuable information to participants by creating links with local services.

The event aims to provide an opportunity for older people to be socially connected and learn more about aged related issues. It also creates opportunities for seniors to mix and socialise with new people from diverse backgrounds, maintain social participation to support good health and wellbeing.

Our diversity makes Australia a great place to live. Harmony Day is a celebration of our cultural diversity – a day of cultural respect for everyone who calls Australia home.

Held every year on 21 March. The Day coincides with the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.

The message of Harmony Day is ‘everyone belongs’, the day aims to engage people to participate in their community, respect cultural and religious diversity and foster sense of belonging for everyone.
